Girls with Circles I — Linocut Print

Girls with Circles I is the first print in a three-part linocut series inspired by the strange, playful, and intimate world of the circus.

Acrobats, animals, movement, and human figures come together in a composition where the boundaries between performer and animal begin to disappear. There is something almost dreamlike in the way the figures interact — as though, through movement and trust, they become part of the same creature, the same performance, the same story.

The circular forms echo circus rings, movement, balance, and the feeling of being caught in a moment of continuous motion. Rather than simply depicting a circus, the series explores the close relationship between people and animals within it — the way they learn to move together, understand one another, and become almost inseparable.

This artwork was  hand-carved into a lino block and hand pressed, with each print created individually. Printed in black and yellow, the limited palette gives the piece a bold graphic quality while keeping the imagery playful and slightly mysterious.

Because each print is made by hand, **no two impressions are exactly the same**. Slight variations in ink coverage, texture, pressure, and registration may occur from one print to another. These differences are a natural part of the linocut process and make each individual impression unique.

As the first work in the Girls with Circles series, it can be displayed on its own or paired with the other two prints to create a larger visual story.

The printed artwork is approximately A4 in size, while the paper itself is slightly larger. This leaves space around the artwork and allows flexibility when choosing a frame.
